Match: Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh, 3rd T20I, Bangladesh tour of Zimbabwe, 2022
Date: August 2, 2022 Tuesday;
Time: 4:30 PM IST
Venue: Harare Sports Club, Harare.
It was interesting to note how different the two games were that were played there. Zimbabwe scored 200 runs in the first match but only 135 in the second. Expect the side that wins the toss to bowl first because this game will determine the winner.
There is no precipitation in the forecast for Tuesday. The temperature is forecast to remain in the middle of the 20s, and there is no risk of precipitation.
In the second game, Zimbabwe’s batting performance was a major factor in the team’s loss, as only one of the top six batters was able to reach double figures. In point of fact, when Zimbabwe lost five wickets in the first seven overs of their innings, there was a very real possibility that they would not be able to play their full allotment of overs.
Both Sikandar Raza and Ryan Burl batted very well, which allowed the team to reach a total that is at least somewhat respectable to defend.
Choosing Raza as the Top Batter seems like the obvious choice, but the odds that are being offered make us uneasy. They do not make up for the danger that you put yourself through in a market like this one. We are going to avoid betting on the Zimbabwe batting as much as possible, and when we do, we are going to bet against them.
There is little reason to believe that things will change from how they have been, as we saw Zimbabwe’s bowlers struggle in both of the matches that came before this one. In the absence of Blessing Muzarabani, the new ball does not pose the same level of threat in terms of taking wickets or generating pace. The spinners are reliable and hard-working, but not a single one of them possesses the qualities that would qualify them as world-class.
Regis Chakabva (WK), Craig Ervine (C), Wesley Madhevere, Sikandar Raza, Sean Williams, Milton Shumba, Ryan Burl, Luke Jongwe, Wellington Masakadza, Richard Ngarava, Tanaka Chivanga.
While Bangladesh will be without Nurul Hasan for this match, they will have Mahmudullah available to play, which will be a big boost for their batting lineup. The lineup will benefit from his experience, and there is no doubt that he is more than capable of providing the power that is required in the middle order.
In the second match, Bangladesh’s batting lineup successfully completed an easy chase without encountering much difficulty. Both Litton Das and Afif Hossain made a good impression on us, but Litton Das was particularly impressive. Even though it does not necessarily possess the power hitters that other teams do, the team is playing with intent and making an effort to be proactive.
The bowling performance of Bangladesh was subpar in the first match, but it was absolutely outstanding in the second. Mossadek Hossain took five wickets, effectively ending the match with his performance. The early wickets also gave Mahdi Hasan, Shoriful Islam, and Mustafizur Rahman the opportunity to bowl without facing any opposition.
The conditions were a bit slower and more conducive to spin than what we saw in the first match we played on this court. That worked out extremely well for the Bangladeshi players in the tournament.
Liton Das (WK), Munim Shahriar, Anamul Haque, Afif Hossain, Najmul Hossain Shanto,Parvez Hossain Emon, Mosaddek Hossain, Mahedi Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, Hasan Mahmud.
With the outcome of the series on the line and both teams having already tasted triumph at the Harare Sports Club, this match has all the makings of a potential all-time great. The home side will always have a shot, especially with Sikandar Raza having an incredible run of form with the bat, but we think Bangladesh will prove to be too strong and will win the game to win the series.
