Squad Comparison for Sydney Sixers vs Brisbane Heat

Sydney Sixers

Steve Smith’s impact on the Sixers has been unparalleled among batters in the short term. Smith scored 346 runs (including two centuries) in just five BBL games; it’s a shame we won’t get to witness him take on the Heat and perhaps the Scorchers.

Nevertheless, there are several positive aspects of this Sixers team, such as bowler Sean Abbott and hitters Jordan Silk and Moises Henriques. Abbott, who has taken 28 wickets overall for the team, was the only wicket-taker in the defeat to the Scorchers, which may have contributed to how easily Perth handled them. Abbott’s 3/25 was a plus, but Kerr and O’Keefe need to improve their bowling.

With Smith gone, the Sixers will turn to Daniel Hughes as a replacement to help fill in the runs, but he’s probably a little rusty after playing so little in the BBL this year. The batter to watch is Silk, who leads the club in scoring with 353 runs and is also the most dependable.

Although Henriques and Patterson have both been reliable hitters, Josh Philippe, the Sixers’ opener, will determine whether they coast to victory. Although Philippe scored a fine half-century against Perth this season, his recent play has been inconsistent, as his previous four games have produced just 20 runs in total.

Sydney Sixers Playing XI

Josh Philippe (wk), Daniel Hughes, Kurtis Patterson, Moises Henriques, Jordan Silk, Hayden Kerr, Dan Christian, Ben Dwarshuis, Sean Abbott, Steve O’Keefe, Izarulhaq Haveed

Brisbane Heat

With seven balls remaining and a score of 3/164, the Heat performed well to defeat the tenacious Renegades squad, but a big portion of the credit belongs to the three batters who won’t be present for the Challenger.

It will be intriguing to see how the Heat performs without Khawaja (59), Labuschagne (23), and Renshaw (27*), who were all crucial to the victory. The good news is that Josh Brown, Sam Hain, and Jimmy Peirson have all recently had successful streaks at the plate. Peirson in particular has improved significantly this season with 324 total runs.

Sydney will likely have to keep an eye on Nathan McSweeney, since he’s a big hitter despite not playing much BBL this season. Brisbane will replace the Australian batters travelling to India with Max Bryant, Sam Heazlett, and Nathan McSweeney.

Although James Bazley (16 wickets) and Michael Neser (24 total wickets) have been in excellent form, the Brisbane bowlers can be challenging to bat against because Bazley occasionally only takes one or no wickets.

Brisbane Heat Playing XI

Josh Brown, Sam Hain, Max Bryant, Nathan McSweeney, Ross Whiteley, Jimmy Peirson (c) (wk), Michael Neser, James Bazley, Matthew Kuhnemann, Spencer Johnson, Xavier Bartlett

Sydney Sixers vs Brisbane Heat Match Prediction

We anticipate a very interesting Challenger match at the SCG with the possibility of winning a BBL final matchup versus Perth Scorchers on the line. Without their three Test batters, Brisbane Heat appear much weaker, but Steve Smith is maybe a bigger loss for Sydney Sixers. However, the Sixers have outstanding BBL bowler Sean Abbott, and we anticipate him to be the difference. We forecast that Sydney Sixers will win.
