Match: Sri Lanka Women vs India Women, India Women Tour of Sri Lanka Women, 3rd T20I
Date: June 27, 2022,
Time: 2:00 PM IST
Venue: Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, Dambulla
The Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla has a well-balanced surface, so pacers should be able to find some movement with the new ball on the Rangiri Stadium field. An entertaining contest is expected, with several wickets from the speed bowlers and excellent batting from the top order. It will be critical for the team to have a bowler who can bowl cutters.
There’s no rain in the forecast for tomorrow’s game, so it should be a dry one. It’s possible, though, that the sky will darken at some point throughout the game. Good bowlers on both sides were aided by the surface in their efforts.
The initial two games of the series, which were played on Thursday and Saturday, were both losses for the Sri Lanka Women’s team. The loss in the first WT20I was by a margin of 34 runs, while the loss in the second was by a margin of 5 wickets. Nevertheless, there have been points during both contests when they have seemed to have a chance of winning.
None more so than on Saturday, when the openers for Sri Lanka Women’s team, Vishmi Gunaratne and Chamari Athapaththu, put up 87 runs for the first wicket in only 14 overs. They struggled to get to a score of 125-7 due to the fact that the other batters were unable to match their level of competence.
Both Oshadi Ranasinghe and Inoka Ranaweera were successful in taking two wickets with the ball, but they were unable to stop India Women from winning with five balls left to play.
Vishmi Gunaratne, Chamari Athapaththu (c), Nilakshi de Silva, Oshadi Ranasinghe, Harshitha Madavi, Kavisha Dilhari, Ama Kanchana, Anushka Sanjeewani (wk), Sugandika Kumari, Inoka Ranaweera and Udeshika Prabodhani
On Saturday, India Women completed their victory in the series, although there were definitely some anxious expressions on display from the Sri Lanka Women players as the 14th over began since none of their openers had been removed. However, in the end it was another easy victory, and all-rounder and captain Harmanpreet Kaur was awarded the Player of the Match trophy.
However, despite her impressive performance with the ball, Deepti Sharma was the most costly bowler in the Indian lineup. At the plate, each of the top three hitters produced important contributions and scored at a rate of more than one run per ball.
Even though Kaur concluded with a strike rate of 96.87, she was still undefeated when the match was over, and her 31 not-out was a superb performance.

In both of its matches, the Sri Lanka Women’s National Cricket Team has shown flashes of true brilliance, but they have not yet put together a powerful performance that lasts the whole 40 overs. We have our money on India Women to win this match and capture the series 3-0, but we do anticipate Sri Lanka Women to give us a few anxious moments once again. We have high hopes that the Indian Women would come out on top in the end.
