Match: Ruby Trichy Warriors vs Chepauk Super Gillies, 12th Match of TNPL T20 series
Venue: NPR College Ground, Dindigul
Date: July 6th
Time: 07:15 PM IST, Local Time and 1;45 GMT
In the previous TNPL matches, the pitch at NPR College Ground proved to be an advantageous one for both the hitters and the bowlers. The first innings score here is 158 runs on average, and the teams who bat second have a better record of winning matches.
Humid from the beginning, but it will get more so as the game goes on. Over the course of the day, temperatures will remain in the upper 20s.
A comfortable win in the opening match set the tone for the second, as Murali Vijay stepped up to the plate. He smashed 34 off 16 balls and seemed to be in peak condition. However long he’s been out of the game, Vijay remains one of the most dangerous batsmen in TNPL. If you’re betting against the Warriors, he’s the one to watch.
There is a noticeable thinning of the batting that surrounds him. N Rajagopal and A Ganesh have both scored runs, although their strike rates are quite poor. In fact, it looks that the lineup’s total firepower is on the low side. Yes, Murali Vijay may turn things around on his own, but we expect the Warriors to struggle at the plate if he leaves the game early.
Ajay Krishna, Arun Mozhi, and Mathivannan are three of the best bowlers in the competition. Sarvana Kumar, on the other hand, has four wickets to his credit despite averaging over 13 runs per over!
Amit Sathvik, Murali Vijay, Nidhish Rajagopal, Adithya Ganesh (wk), Muhammed Adnan Khan, Antony Dhas, Saravana Kumar, M Mathivannan, Rahil Shah (c), M Poiyamozhi, Ajay Krishna
This year’s Chepauk Super Gillies haven’t done well in the TNPL 2022 season. There was a draw in regulation, but they lost in a sudden-death Super Over. It was much worse in the second encounter when they were crushed even more thoroughly. After a few day’s break, the crew hopes to return with a better product.
Senior players like N Jagadeesan and Kaushik Gandhi must contribute runs if the squad is to succeed. Gandhi has one hundred and fifty works to his credit, although it is not the strongest. Also, U Sasidev has performed well, but he has to convert more of his chances into significant results.
The all-rounders Sonu Yadav and Harish Kumar have provided the Chepauk Super Gillies with energy and drive so far. Just yet, we don’t believe it’s time to give up on the Super Gillies. There are many players who can step up for them in their batting order. It’s also worth noting that they have more batting power and depth than their opponents.
If the surface had a little more bounce, Sandeep Warrier would have hoped to take advantage of it. First up, he bowls a short, hard length and has the potential to take up a few wickets quickly. The Super Gillies will also rely on R Alexander to take wickets.
Kaushik Gandhi (c), Narayan Jagadeesan (wk), S Sujay, Sonu Yadav, Uthirasamy Sasidev, Rajgopal Sathish, Jaganath Sinivas, Manimaran Siddharth, Harish Kumar, Sandeep Warrier, Ramadoss Alexander
This year’s event was a rematch of last year’s final, which Ruby Trichy Warriors lost, although they still won the other two matches. The longer the Chepauk Super Gillies go without a victory, the more difficult it will be for them to defend their title from 2021. There will be many twists and turns, but we think the Ruby Trichy Warriors will win the game.
