Match: Pakistan vs England, 1st T20 Match 2022
Date: September 20, 2022,
Time: 2.30 pm GMT and 08:00pm IST
Venue: National Stadium – Karachi, Pakistan
In Karachi, this is the best batting wicket you’ll find. We anticipate a par score of over 200 on this fast and bouncy pitch.
Humidity levels will be high, and the temperature will peak at 28 degrees at the start of the game. There will be some clouds at the beginning, but the sky will clear up during the second half of the game.
Unfortunately, Pakistan’s performances were subpar even though the team made it to the Asia Cup final. The selectors’ decision to replace Fakhar Zaman with Shan Masood is unusual, but they stuck by it. Masood, who bats left-handed, has excelled in the T20 Blast and the Pakistan Super League but has yet to make his T20 international debut.
Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan will also receive attention. Although they are the most productive T20 duo, their strike rate has been deemed inadequate, and they will be pushed to the limit to score runs right away. The middle order should still have room for Khushdil Shah, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Asif Ali.
Pakistan has the strength in depth to attack thanks to spin bowling all-rounders Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz. They won’t have Shaheen Afridi to lead their bowling attack this time, but between Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, and Mohammad Hasnain, the English batting lineup will be in for a tough test. It’s not easy to beat Pakistan.
Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Babar Azam (c), Shan Masood, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, Khusdhil Shah, Asif Ali, Shadab Khan, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Hasnain
Jos Buttler will be captaining England in this series, and he will have a formidable batting team to work with. In fact, one of the challenges he faces is figuring out how to seat everyone where they want to sit. Buttler will likely bat first, followed by Phil Salt and Dawid Malan in the middle order.
Although, England also has Alex Hales in their lineup and can choose to open with him (something that we think would be the better cricketing decision but may not happen immediately). When Buttler has an abundance of top-order hitters, he may move himself down the order.
The English middle order may include of Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, and Harry Brook. Also available for selection are David Willey, Liam Dawson, and Jordan Cox.
There will be a comeback for Mark Wood, but he won’t participate in all seven games. Whether or not England thinks he’s fit to play will determine whether or not he begins. It’s possible that the opening game will feature Adil Rashid, Reece Topley, and Olly Stone.
England has an abundance of talent at its disposal and can thus take many different approaches. With seven games remaining, expect a lot more subs to keep everyone on the field healthy and fresh.
Alex Hales, Phil Salt (wk), Dawid Malan, Harry Brook, Ben Duckett, Jordan Cox, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, David Willey, Adil Rashid, Reece Topley
We anticipate a high-scoring match in Karachi despite the fact that neither club is in particularly good form in this format. A number of talented new players have joined England’s squad, and there is hope that some of them may emerge as game-winners. As the more consistent team, Pakistan is our pick to win this matchup.
