Squad Comparison for New Zealand vs Pakistan

New Zealand

After a crushing victory over Australia, New Zealand has advanced to the semifinals. Despite suffering a crushing defeat at the hands of England, the team kept its guard up against the competition. We believe that, out of all the teams in the T20 World Cup, Pakistan would have least wanted to face Pakistan in the semi-finals.

Just before the World Cup, New Zealand and Pakistan played in a tri-series against each other and Bangladesh. Pakistan ultimately won this tournament. It’s safe to assume that New Zealand’s hitters will be nervous of facing Pakistan’s spinners in Sydney.

We are prepared for New Zealand’s strategy in this encounter. Finn Allen will take a really aggressive stance, Kane Williamson will try to bat through, and the other hitters will aim to take advantage of good matchups. The batting lineup is only solidified by Devon Conway and Glenn Phillips’ current performances.

Unfortunately, the three big-hitting all-rounders in the lineup—Daryl Mitchell, Mitch Santner, and Jimmy Neesham—have failed to produce. If New Zealand loses a few early wickets, it might be in serious trouble.

New Zealand, like Pakistan, hopes to use its bowling attack to score early and win the match. Lockie Ferguson, Trent Boult, and Time Southee have all been around for long enough and have experience to know what they’re doing. New Zealand might take the lead with three or four solid early overs.

The Black Caps have to count on that to win.

New Zealand Playing XI

Finn Allen, Devon Conway (wk), Kane Williamson, Glenn Phillips, Daryl Mitchell, James Neesham. Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee, Ish Sodhi, Lockie Ferguson, Trent Boult

Pakistan

Pakistan had already packed their luggage, booked their flights, and begun debriefing their performance in this competition. The tide has turned, though, as they currently stand on the cusp of claiming the T20 World Cup 2022. We believe Pakistan should have a lot more leeway in the game than it already does.

Mohammad Haris’s inclusion in the lineup gives the team another aggressive hitter who can hit with freedom. Considering how Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam are scuffling at the top of the order, Mohammad Haris is a crucial counter.

Even more impressive is the batting performance of Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, and Mohammad Nawaz. The Pakistani batting lineup, which was predicted to be weak in the middle, has really been strong throughout the entire tournament. To us, it looks like Pakistan is making good use of its batting talent, and it could end up shocking New Zealand.

Pakistan’s bowlers are where the team’s true game-winning potential lies. Even though he had four wickets in the previous encounter, we do not believe that Shaheen Afridi is playing up to his potential. Even though Haris Rauf and Mohammad Wasim Jr. have been outstanding, Naseem Shah and Mohammad Nawaz have bowled admirably. As the finest spinner in the competition, Shadab Khan will play a crucial part in the outcome.

When playing Pakistan, there are no “easy overs,” and it could be the difference in the game.

Pakistan Playing XI

Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Babar Azam (c), Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Haris, Shan Masood, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Wasim, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Shaheen Shah Afridi

New Zealand vs Pakistan Match Prediction

It’s safe to assume that both teams will enter this match with high levels of confidence thanks to their recent successes at the SCG (both have won at least one game there so far in this tournament). Pakistan’s bowlers have turned it around after a dismal start to the tournament by delivering pace, aggression, and accuracy, but the team’s top order hitters have continued to struggle for consistency. When it comes down to batting, we think New Zealand has a better chance of winning.
