India Vs Pakistan, Match Preview

One of Cricket’s greatest rivalries is back. India takes on Pakistan in a World Cup encounter. The head-to-head in World Cup is highly against Pakistan, and a first look at the fixture will suggest trouble for Pakistan. The side however, has built a wonderful T20 side, and looks very dangerous. The top-order is well equipped to handle the slow UAE surfaces with Babar Azam, and Mohammad Rizwan. The middle-order packs power, and there are some wonderful young bowlers.

Overall, Pakistan is full of talent, and their history of unpredictability always makes them a dangerous side. They surprised many in the 2019 World Cup, and can do the same now. They also have the advantage of playing in a nation that is very familiar to them. With Cricket held away from Pakistan for a long time, the team had to make the UAE its home. With the World Cup in the UAE, they will feel more at home than the designated hosts in India.

India come into the World Cup with a good T20 record. They recently had a long streak broken by Sri Lanka, but are among the best T20 sides over the last two years. The squad has wonderful depth, but there are issues to look at. India tends to be slow starters early in the innings, and aren’t the fastest in the powerplay. They will have to find ways to score faster, if they are too challenge Pakistan, who have a good bowling arsenal.

The bowling is another concern, as there are a lot of options to choose from.

India Vs Pakistan, Team News

Pakistan have announced their 12, and will have to leave a player out today. The side looks balanced, and they will have to find out who to leave out in place of Hafeez, if they need him.

India has some selection headaches of their own. Ishan Kishan is in good form, and they will be tempted to fit him in the side. The bowling attack has a lot of options but the question is who is in form. Both Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Shami are available, but neither have been at their best in the Warm-Ups. The second spinner is likely to be Chakravarthy.

India Vs Pakistan, Players to Watch out for

Babar Azam

Big game, lots too fight for, and who better to turn to than one of the best batters in the World. Babar Azam keeps improving, and he will be keen to rise in the match-up against the likes of Virat Kohli. With the surfaces a touch slower, his ability to bat through will be important if Pakistan are to get runs.

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli hasn’t been in the most fluent of forms with the bat. It has been a while since he last made a century, in other formats. His IPL form was also touch and go, and Virat Kohli will be looking to make amends in a big game against Pakistan.

India Vs Pakistan, Pitch Report

The Dubai surface is likely to help the slower bowlers. Spinners and bowlers with good pace variations will have a good time on the pitch. Batting first is a better option as runs on the board always help in a big encounter.
