Squad Comparison for Brisbane Heat Women vs Hobart Hurricanes Women

Brisbane Heat Women

The Heat maintained third place without Redmayne with to victories over the Strikers and the Sixers and a no result due to rain in their match against the Stars.

Redmayne’s 333 runs scored over the course of the season put her at the top of the league and made a huge difference for the team’s batting order. She may be a little rusty after taking some time off, but she’s got the skills and experience to make up for it and earn a healthy sum.

Without Redmayne, Brisbane still has a chance to win because Danni Wyatt has been in excellent form at the batting order of late, scoring 31 and 52 in her last two games. While Georgia Voll hasn’t done much on the field, Grace Harris and Laura Harris have shown they can put up huge numbers with the bat; Harris scored 74 not long ago.

Nicola Hancock (22 wickets), Jessica Jonassen (20 wickets), and Amelia Kerr (16 wickets) are three of Brisbane’s bowlers ranked in the top eight wicket-takers in the league (19).

Hancock has a greater per-game effect and will need to be at his best if Brisbane is to come away with a win, but Jonassen and Kerr are capable of surprising with their play when the situation calls for it. Yet, at 8.38, Hancock’s ER is excessive and must be reduced.

Brisbane Heat Women Playing XI

Danielle Wyatt, Georgia Voll, Grace Harris, Amelia Kerr, Laura Harris, Ellie Johnston (wk), Jess Jonassen (c), Charli Knott, Nicola Hancock, Jess Kerr, Lucy Hamilton

Hobart Hurricanes Women

It’s been quite a dramatic turn of events for the Hurricanes, who just leapfrogged Perth for fourth place. If they want to win the championship, being in fourth place and winning three straight games is a tall order.

We doubt Hobart has the self-belief to beat a formidable opponent like Brisbane after losing their previous two games to the Strikers and Sixers. As a result of Mignon Du Preez’s excellent batting, they still have a chance to make it a competitive contest (366 runs). She’s in great form, having made 50*, 75, and 38 in her last three games, and she’ll need to continue that streak if Hobart is to win.

Lee, Villani, and Graham are all strong batters, but they are not the most trustworthy, thus it is unclear where Du Preez will get his support. Lee is reliable, but his scores are almost never higher than 30, Villani is seasoned, but he has three scores below 10, and Graham hits for a lot of power, but he is sometimes dismissed quickly because of it.

The team’s biggest wicket-taker is bowler Molly Strano, who has 13, although that’s not a lot compared to other teams, and she hasn’t taken a wicket in the last three games. Nicola Carey is second best with 10 wickets, but we’re not too excited by Hobart’s bowling and think the Heat will breeze through them.

Hobart Hurricanes Women Playing XI

Lizelle Lee (wk), Rachel Trenaman, Mignon du Preez, Elyse Villani (c), Heather Graham, Nicola Carey, Ruth Johnston, Naomi Stalenberg, Hayley Jensen, Amy Smith, Molly Strano

Brisbane Heat Women vs Hobart Hurricanes Women Match Prediction

When entering the elimination round, neither the Brisbane Heat Women nor the Hobart Hurricanes Women were in particularly good shape, having won only one of their previous four games. However, if both teams win their remaining three matches, they will share the WBBL title. There’s no denying Mignon du Preez’s impressive batting form, but we think the Brisbane Heat Women’s bowlers will be too much to handle in the Eliminator.
