Match: Adelaide Strikers vs Melbourne Renegades 36th Match, Big Bash League 2022-23
Date: 10th January 2023,
Time: 2:10 pm IST and 8:40 am GST
Venue: Adelaide Oval – Adelaide, Australia
The lowest BBL score (15 by Sydney Thunder) and highest BBL chase were both recorded on this ground this season (230 by Adelaide Strikers). For the quick bowlers, it is a great batting surface with good pace and bounce.
In the last stretch of the game, it will be sunny with a little more cloud cover. Throughout the game, it will be warm with a temperature in the 20s.
The biggest news for the Strikers is that one of their finest bowlers, Rashid Khan (six wickets, 6.42 ER), and their leading run-scorer, Chris Lynn (324), will both be departing the team. However, Lynn will continue to play for a little while longer and take the field against the Heat on January 14th.
The Strikers’ top batting order will be revitalised by Australia’s Test players Travis Head and Alex Carey, so there’s little cause for concern. Not to mention Matt Short’s 321 runs, which included 100* against the Hurricanes. The Strikers are in good shape with a player like that remaining on the roster in addition to Colin de Grandhomme (153) and Adam Hose (197).
The Strikers have a tonne of excellent batsmen, so it does seem strange that they dropped four in a row, but they could still use some assistance from the bowlers. With 16 wickets, Henry Thornton has been reliable, but occasionally he falters, as evidenced by his 0/41 against Hobart. Adelaide’s bowling unit isn’t quite as nasty as it could be yet, but Wes Agar is the next best with 11.

There will be a few small roster adjustments, like with every BBL team, as a number of players leave for other leagues around the globe. The departure of Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Andre Russell, and spinner Akeal Hosein from the Renegades is regrettable, especially for Hosein, who has bowled brilliantly and taken 13 wickets.
Despite the season-ending and two-week absences of Shaun Marsh and Nic Maddinson from a strong roster, the addition of spinner Ruwantha Kellapotha is encouraging. Additionally, there is batsman Marcus Harris to aid with run production (just three so far, however).
With 242, Aaron Finch continues to lead the team in runs, which is quite remarkable for a guy who is 36 years old. It’s difficult to rely on one man to score every night, so you’d like to see more from starter Martin Guptill (86 runs). Jonathan Wells (136) and Sam Harper (116), who scored a career-high 89 runs against Hobart by hitting seven 6s, both show improvement.
With 17 wickets, Tom Rogers leads the BBL and is quickly emerging as one of the greatest bowlers in the competition. With Hosein going, the Renegades will be largely dependent on him for the time being.

In this match at the Adelaide Oval, we anticipate lots of runs from two evenly matched teams. The Strikers will be aiming for the Renegades in the table and enter this game knowing that a victory will put them ahead of their rivals. We are supporting Adelaide Strikers to win this match again since they appear to have the stronger batting lineup.
