Twelve days after being held goalless by Bristol City in the fourth round of the FA Cup, Nottingham Forest needed a penalty shootout to defeat the Championship club at home in a replay on Wednesday evening, following a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes.
Divock Origi’s close-range effort eight minutes in was cancelled out just six minutes later by Jason Knight, but in a game in which both teams squandered several good opportunities, Forest won 5-3 on penalties to advance to the fifth round against Manchester United at home.

Following a difficult run of form over the festive period, Newcastle appeared to have turned a corner after winning three of four games in January, but the Magpies were held to a thrilling 4-4 draw by Luton Town at St James’ Park last weekend.
Sean Longstaff’s two goals were cancelled out by Gabriel Osho and Ross Barkley in the first half, before Carlton Morris and Elijah Adebayo scored in three second-half minutes to put Luton ahead 4-2. However, the Magpies were able to salvage a point thanks to goals from Kieran Trippier and Harvey Barnes.

Seven of the last eight meetings between these two teams have resulted in at least three goals, so an entertaining matchup could be in store this weekend. Both Forest and Newcastle are desperate to get maximum points and start a strong run of form, but with little to separate these two teams, who will not be at full strength, a score draw is possible this time around.
Nottingham Forest 1-3 Newcastle United, predicted by us.
